In 2019, the Áspero took the gravel world by storm, ushering in a 'new age of gravel speed.' Fun, but also brutally tough. The new Áspero stays true to its original concept, but with several improvements: a threaded BB shell, cleaner cable routing, and a UDH-compatible derailleur hanger for those who want to use SRAM's Transmission drivetrains. And it's more aerodynamic, of course. In the case of Áspero, aerodynamic performance is less about pure speed resulting from reduced drag, and more about energy saving. After a tough day riding into a headwind, the three watts you save compared to the previous Áspero can amount to one less energy gel for your stomach to digest – AND THAT’S WORTH IT.

In addition to reducing drag, we also lowered the seat stays to provide a little more flex at the back, and slightly reduced stiffness at the front to make the final hours of a long race less painful. Between those lowered seat stays, we've also added a little more mud clearance, utilizing what we learned from the R5-CX (and the mudfest at Unbound 2023). These are many seemingly small improvements, but together they make a big difference. The result is a bike that is very similar to the original Áspero, but faster, more comfortable, and more versatile.
