The Shimano SLX CS-M7100 cassette is the essential, high-quality component for mountain bikes (MTB) making the leap to 12-speed. As part of the SLX group, this cassette brings the revolutionary Hyperglide+ technology to a wider audience. Hyperglide+ enables dynamic shifting, allowing you to seamlessly shift up and down even under heavy load and while pedaling. This ensures an uninterrupted cadence and more control on challenging trails.
The construction of the CS-M7100 focuses on a balance between lightweight and durability. The cassette uses the Beam Spider construction, where the larger steel sprockets are mounted on an aluminum carrier. This reduces the overall weight and increases stiffness, resulting in faster acceleration and less inertia. The largest sprocket (e.g., the 51T) is made of aluminum to save weight, while the rest of the sprockets are made of durable steel for a long lifespan.
The SLX 12-speed cassette is exclusively compatible with the Micro Spline freehub body, which allows for the use of a smallest 10-tooth (10T) sprocket. This 10T sprocket, in combination with the 51T, offers an enormously wide range (510%), which is ideal for steep climbs and high speeds on descents. The M7100 is the reliable and durable choice for serious mountain bikers and is also suitable for e-bikes.
