The Shimano SLX CN-M7100 chain is the core of the 12-speed SLX mountain bike (MTB) drivetrain. This chain is specifically designed for Shimano's revolutionary Hyperglide+ system, ensuring dynamic, smooth shifting in both directions, even under the heaviest loads. Unlike older systems, the M7100 guarantees an extremely fast and quiet transition between gears, crucial for aggressive riding on rough terrain. This is possible thanks to the extended inner plate which ensures better retention and faster engagement with the sprockets.

In terms of durability and longevity, the CN-M7100 is optimized for the high tensions of modern 12-speed cassettes and Micro Spline hubs. The chain features Shimano's proven SIL-TEC treatment on the inner plates. SIL-TEC is a superior, ultra-low friction surface treatment that extends lifespan, reduces noise, and maintains stable long-term performance. This allows the SLX 12-speed chain to perform longer, even in muddy and dusty conditions.
